3 exhaust guides worked loose. (oh, it was printed a lovely light blue)

according to the head man, unliely for head to be cracked. we'll see ....

so what happened when they worked loose? arn't they meant to be pressed in and very tight?

maybe manufacturing fault but look at the head - it was painted a light blue colour - you ca nsee a bit near the theormostat bulge but all paint has burnt off , so I doubt it.

engine overheated big time - I suspect the guides seized onto the valves then then got worn thus became loose in the head.

note the exhaust guide, nearest the thermotstat is coolest so remains in place, as do the inlet guides.

weirdly enough the valves were loose and not damaged.

blimy that sure did get very hot then. Perhaps the head expanded so much from overheating the guide bores became to large for the guides to be gripped. Though I thought phosphor bronze expands more than iron?

You will be able to buy a new crossflow shortly from America

Dont know what the cost will be.....

The old rattley crossflow takes some abuse and its still rebuildable unless it has a hole with a rod sticking out of it.
