Can anyone tell me what model starter motor this is as it has no model number on it and I need to get a new one as this has started smoking.
It is fitted to a silvertop Zetec with MT75 gearbox.

thats the engine and box setup that i have, no starter at the moment.
i was told i need a sierra DOHC one or a Sierra 1.8cvh one, maybe one of those????
My vote goes for sierra cvh
Cheers
Rich
I thought the CVH one was a LR707? and was needed to fit to a type 9 not an MT75.
Can anyone confirm this.
I need a model number really. Can anyone suggest a good place to get a replacement or should any motor factors do an exchange?

Pinto starter has more gear showing and a longer snout.
Remeber Ford used the parts bin heavily so a DOHC starter may well be identical to a CVH one.
Also count the teeth on the cog, i think it should be 10 but don't hold me to that.
the dohc and the 1.8 cvh fit the silvertop to type 9 the MT75 should be the same as it is the relationship between the starter motor and the flywheel, the MT75 gearbox face is still flush with the back of the engine block as is the type 9. The only time this would affect the starter is if the gearbox was recessed for the starter

707 definately fits the zetec to type 9 setup. It has narrower main body than 543.

"Thats a starter mate"
Looked at mine and it looks the same like i said apart from the shape of that nose bit on the solenoid which could just be different makes. Mines a
cvh one.
IIRC its the throw of the gear thats different them.
If it is cvh then you need one from a 1.8 cvh sierra vintage 90ish. If its 2 litre dohc then itl be a later one like 92 93 i think.
Cortina 2 litre or Sierra Pinto
Looks a lot like mine (rwd cvh)
