As title really any advice on how thick to go for ?
Its for a zetec inlet manifold. I was thinking of 1mm ?
Any one got an opinion or advice on going thicker or thiner ? pro's and con's
cheers
are you using the orignal inlet plate/manifold? if so should be fairly flat so would think 1mm gasket material with a smear of sealant be ok, if using a with a home made manifold might not be as true/flat so a softer/thicher material may be better, the standard gasket only has a 0.4mm gasket paper each side of a plastic heat insulation core with a addition of engrained sealing rings
I used
this , cheap enough and a single A4 sheet of the cork-type-stuff can be cut in half and used to do the whole thing.
I used it over a year ago and it's still going great guns

steel plenum so may not be as flat as oe.
I will just by the 1mm me thinks and see how I get on. 1m square will last a life time.
