Hi,

I have an unknown type 9 box and Id like to find out which version it is, where should I be looking for plates or stampings?

Cheers

As far as i know there's only 2 versions - with the standard and long input shaft versions that were fitted to the 2.8 cars.

so all type 9s are the same ratios?

What length are the short and lon input shafts respectively?

er no the previous thread shows that the long input shaft boxes have a higher ratio 1st gear

I don't think so!
I believe there are some long input shaft boxes with the less helpful ratios. Diesels? P100?? but never assume long input=close ratio!
I guesss the best way to check is put it in gear and count the turns?

If it's any help the bell housing on the short box is 7" from the gearbox mating surface to the engine mounting surface,
