Initial static advance?

Mr. Haynes says either:

1.3 LC and LC Economy (from Nov 1977) 12 degrees BTDC
1.3 HC and HC Economy (from 1977) 10 degrees BTDC
1.3 (all other versions) 6 degrees BTDC

The Haynes manual dos not take into consideration that there are different Dizzy's available or that the bob weights and the advance curves are wildly different from one dizzy to an other.

38 deg max at 5 k revs.Will be right in the ball park for best performance.

Also if the engine is reluctant to hot start due the ignition being too advanced at cranking speed you may have to give the static timing less advance.

If the engine is on points ignition the contact breaker gap is hyper critical especially with the Ford's own Fomoco (aka Autolite) distributor --- the points gap for the Fomoco distributor is 0.023" to 0.027" with new points always set at the wide end, put the tiniest possible drop of gearse on the cam and recheck the gap after 15 minutes running.
