No its not in my locost ! Its in my Rangie and I have just rebuilt the carbs after failing MOT on emissions. I have followed instructions in workshop manual but they are too vague as far as setting up mixture to balance the carbs. So far whatever I do I can't get sensible changes to the CO readings any hints on where to start and how to do this?

the principle should (but may not be - SUs are my bag) as SUs.

there should be a jet in which the needles moves up/down and a means to adjust the jet height.

If I remember, I'll take a gander at the haynes manuals tonight.

strombergs have a diaphragm on the jet(?) and this is notorious for splitting - may effect emission? - have you checked them?

Those carbs are a pain in the arse, perhaps convert to SU's if you can find a pair.

If you are spending the money....
Convert to a 4 barrel webber! All SU's will be well worn out by now, well at least 25 years old (early to mid 80's).

Emissions,
Have you changed the Air filter.
Changed the oil and filter?
And ensured the flame traps in the breathers and the breather pipes are not blocked.
Flame traps are only a couple of quid each. Check the breather pipes havent collapsed internally.
Also take it for a good run and get it properly warmed up, and the crap blown out of it!

there should also be a breather in the block so engine block can draw air into the crank case.
