Parts in the US- 711M X-flow
usdew - 6/5/04 at 08:57 PM

I got a 711M X-flow in my car. The problem is that in the US I cannot go to my local parts store and ask for Escort MK2 parts, because we never had them here! Most are also not familiar with the term X-flow. This is frustrating because I have to resort to mail order for trivial things like points and gaskets, which can costs more than its worth to ship.

Does anyone know of a Ford model that used the 711M in the US? I've been told about the Pinto, but weren't those OHC engines?

Try www.wirewheel.com the guy is a super nice specialist car dealer, but does have crossflow parts in stock...

Wherever you go in the US, don't forget to describe it as a 'Kent' engine - 'crossflow' is only a nickname (or, at least, just a description of the inlet-outlet layout - the Pinto's a crossflow!). All Ford catalogues will use the name Kent, if they use any name at all.
