is that what you use for fitting filter socks? i know they're not the best, but they'd be best given the space i have

i'd have considered an airbox, but space is tight, i wouldn't be able to make one myself, and i'd struggle to give someone accurate dimentions of the space to have one made. also, space is tight for cone filters etc.

so what do i need for fitting filter socks? and where would i get it all?

Some of the filter socks I've seen just use tie wraps round the neck of the carbs.

i could do with some as my plastic ones have perished and so do not have any on at the mo - mine is covered up with a sausage filter so no poo can get in.

sorry to hijack your post but do i need to get some - do these affect performance?

Blake i had to buy a air box to get the trumpets from a bike scrapie
Make sure you get the right ones b /c are different to E

Dont forget blake there is a minimum distance that needs to be left of 19mm between the trumpet and the filter, but I think 30mm is ideally what you are looking for.

What engine/carbs combination was the chassis designed for?

thanks everyone

Pete, can you remember where you saw these filters?
seen some ramair ones on ebay, look pretty good on price, but they are like blocks of foam with holes in. can't see how they'd tighten down

Graham, do you know what type mine are? i don't know. they're CVR, but do they say on them anywhere if they are b,c, or e? hows easiest to check?
are b & c the same? and e different?

prawnabie, the chassis is designed for vauxhall xe engines with weber carbs.
they could also use zetecs, but not many did. think they have changed to 2.3 duratecs now though. 30mm should be fine for space

here's a picture of the engine bay on one of last years trucks, remember they are left hand drive now so there is more room for the filter, as the pedal box is on the other side obviously, but you can see the arrangement
