with a turbo that big lets hope it's not for road use!!?? Needs a supercharger to spin up a turbo that big.
Would it not have been easier to use the Ford 16v head for the same engine???

I might have cleaned up the scabby welds on the Ali extension he's bunged onto the head.
Might be easier to dry deck the block with pipe plugs and run the water and oil lines externally.
I've seen these frankenmotor deals before -- there was a fellow running BMW 4 valve motorcycle heads on an a-series in a Mini a few years back.
Probably fine for race use but I would think the headache:gain ratio is too low. Why not run the Volvo motor adapted to a suitable transmission? Or a
Vauxhall, Toyota or K-series, nice modern 200K mile between rebuild 4 valvers one and all.
Or if you want to retain the Pinto lump, just turbocharge it for some extra oomph -- plenty of factory engineered turbo kits in the scrappies, the
Garrett T3's are hardy turbos and very cheap to rebuild.
Come to think of it, I could put you in touch with some Merkur boys over here -- they have lots of turbo bits and no LSD rear axles, you have LSD
axles (sierra 4x4, etc) probably work up a trade for cost of shipping.

The volvo head is the only one I have heard of that can be modded to fit the lima block. I cant remember if its oil or coolant that requires the
extra block back of the head, pistons have to be custom or maybe dished to miss the extra valves. The volvo 2.3 bottom end will not hold up to the
power that can be created by the lima but the head flows very well. There are a few aftermarket alli heads available but non that are twin cam. With
a normal t3 turbo that the lima comes with and that head I think you could have a quite streetable 400+hp. I think that I would not want anything
bigger than the t3 on mine for lag problems on such a light car, I have even considered going to a smaller turbo if lag is an issue but I wont be
able to tell for another year.

Zetecs are 16v and go up to 2.3,used in the galaxy and lard barge scorpio.
I have wondered why builders never seem to use the 2.3 zetec,maybe there's no gain and the fact there's not many about.

bit confusedabout the galaxy i used as the head said zetec,never mind as i allways thought the merkur was a derived zetec too.
I may yet be proved wrong Bob!! Certainly the 2.3 16v in the scorpio is the 16v version of the old dohc engine (called the I4 as far as I know) and I doubt Ford would have built a 2.3 zetec as well, but you never know!! I don't think the zetec block will go to 2.3 litres though, being "based" on the CVH block casting.
