Got the starter motor working, turns the engine over .......
and it now seems i've got two cylinders filling up with liquid!
ARRGGHHH glad i've got a spare engine.
What sort of liquid?
What sort liquid??? Fuel or coolant??
Well i thought at first it was water with wd40 mixed in .........
had a spare head gasket for a 1600 (engine is 1630) and nothing to loose so ...
head gasket swap - boy is it easy on these cars. bores in fantastic condition, head perfectly flat - in fact everything looked perfect. Reassembled
with the 1600 gasket, its a close fit, but it fits.
few days later trying to start it and ..... same problem, yet i know my pistons are clean.... turns out that the float in carb wasn't shutting
off and the fuel pump was pushing LOTS of fuel into the engine. As the carb isn't level, it all went to cylinders 1 and 2.
Still can't get the engine to fire - but i'm working on it.
if the float needle valve is ok suspect the fuel pump out put pressure.
tried a different carb which has a return built into the bowl and .... it was a lot better ..... tomorrow night is the next attempt at annoying the
neighbours.
Hopefully this time it will be less ..... wrrrrrrrr ...... wrrrrrrr ........ wrrrrrr
and more ....
wrrrrr ....... wrrrrrr ...... wrrrrr Brummmmmmm
Good luck
Our EFI miraculously worked with minimal problems (only a dodgy relay needed replacing).
Annoying the neighbours is fun
not when they are police dog handlers its not!!!
