Clutch release bearing
albertz - 21/5/04 at 08:22 PM

I have just started putting my Toyota 4AGE together with the T9 gearbox, with my 'kinda homemade' bellhousing (saving the best part of 200 pound). However, i have noticed that the Toyota clutch release bearing inner sleeve is cracked. I have tried my local parts shop but they only sell 3 in 1 clutch kits.

Can anyone recommend a company who could sell me the release bearing on its own? I have tried Fensport but they wanted about 38 pound or so, which i thought was quite expensive, i will have to pay it if there is nothing else. Hopefully you good people will be able to come up with some alternative supplier though............

I'll leave it in your capable hands (he says optimistically!!)

Cheers

Sorry - I may be just being thick but:
wouldn't you need a T9 clutch release bearing to go on the shaft coming out of the T9 box?

Ford Sierra release bearing or go the SAAB slave clyinder route

Ford release bearing and friction plate I think, unless Toyota use the same spline.

Sorry guys havent been on the site for a few days.

I am hoping to use the Toyota bearing as the way i have done the bellhousing retains the Toyota clutch assembly but uses a Sierra plate.

The sleeve on the T9, on which the bearing slides, is about 0.3mm larger than the Toyota, so i intend to turn this off and polish up to fit the Toyota bearing.

I am not exactly sure how this conversion is normally done by Raw Engineering for example, but i am confident my setup should work OK. The only problem i have is that the fork for the slave cylinder is interfering with the chassis upright at the mouth of the tunnel, i will need to modify that area slightly.

The Sierra bearing may be OK for the job, i havent looked at it really, as i wanted to retain as much of the Toyota mechanism as possible, may be worth a look though. I would need to check the outer diameter against the Toyota springs. Dont suppose anybody knows that dimension do they?

Anyway back to the original question, does anyone know where i can get a release bearing on its own?
