Mazda MX5/Eunos engine - it lives :D
JAG - 24/5/04 at 09:51 AM

After much hard graft my MX5/Eunos engine finally sprang into life on Friday at approx' 21:45 - with no exhaust fitted

Still I'm pretty sure the neighbours didn't mind - they're still speaking to me

It's a 1.6 DOHC engine with fuel injection and about 110bhp.

I have been having problems with the engine management system. Specifically with the lack of 5v supply to one of the sensors. It turned out to be a 'short' to earth in the 'air flow meter' that was killing the 5v signal to ALL the other sensors.

The engine sounds sssooooooo good it has given the whole project and me a real lift.

Enthusiasm has now reached an all time high and I'd like to finish the whole car NOW!

Edited to add; new pictures in my archive before the end of today!

Great news on the engine status (said thru clenched teeth - see my probs). Gotta valve compressor, by any chance?

Cheers

Sorry to hear about your issues

Last time I used a spring compressor I hired it from Motaparts in Northfield (by the train station). It cost < £5 for the day but that was 10-15 years ago. They probably still hire it but the price may have gone up

You can buy one for the cost of a couple of days hire on the basis of that . I got one for £12 from a local diy shop last year.
