Now ive put it in the right place lets try again...
Has anybody tried removing the input shaft of the type 9 box without a complete stripdown at all.
I would be keen to hear if you have, what the basic procedure was.
Cheers
Haven't done it myself without stripping down, but that's not to say it is a problem, it should be a case of just remove the trumpet housing
(release bearing sleeve), remove the bearing retaining circlip and pull the input shaft out, being careful not to lose the bearing in the back end of
it down inside the gearbox! Just not quite sure without looking whether any of the 4th gear synchro/selector fork gets in the way?

Pretty sure the answer is NO.
I realised this when I recently stripped my MT75; Yes, the bearing and probably the cast-on gear will clear the bore, but the cast-on 4th gear
syncro-ring-thingy gets trapped behind the front gear of the layshaft. Look at a cross-section through almost any gearbox and I guess the same will
apply.
Cheers for your input guys, I have now formulated a new plan for tackling the problem
