hi can any tell me if my 1300xflow should be making a clicking noise through the breather on the fuel pump side of the engine?
Thought it was a tappet and after adjusting them twice found the noise to be the breather. It has a pipe to it and a metal thing and a springey thing
inside .
do i need it ? any mods i can do to get rid of it ?

there is a valve in the breather,its normal for it to rattle

I was advised to remove the valve in my pinto's breather, I bought an ally one from Rally Design, it doesn't have a valve, I think they do
one for xflows to

Barrie.
This type of breather has to be connected up to the standard inlet manifold. The vacuum keeps it open allowing fumes back into the combustion
chamber.
It will not work venting to atmosphere.
It will not work, properly, connected to a twin 40's type manifold because of the stronger pulsing from this type of manifold.
The valve inside acts as a flame trap against backfires.

any suggestions what to do with the pipe when twin fortys are fitted .
this is how i have it at the moment and the noise fits into the pulsing thought

Best to vent to atmosphere if you are running 40's.
Your best bet is to get a 'block breather' from Burton's, Rally Design or Vulcan etc.
They are not expensive.....less than £10.
This replaces the entire breather assy and you simply vent via some heater hose to atmosphere, preferably via a catch tank of some description.
If you find you are losing oil, with this method, there are ways to remedy that, but 1st things first.
