Type 33 and 37 cylinder heads on x-flows

Could someone please check thge Haynes book? It says the 1600 head has a type 37 stamped on it whereas the 1300 has 33. I have found the stamping (by removing rocker cover) and mine is a 37, even though it's off a 1.3 car. I know the head may have been changed, but it looks original, and the car was relatively low mileage (70k).

Also, the engine types. I have a list of what they all are, but where do I find it? The block has the 711M number and also T19 on it but not a recognisable engine type. . .. .

I'm not an expert as I've recently started a build on my and I had the same questions. What I'd do is check the valve sizes as it's most likely that you have a 1300GT/Ghia head which is a good one to have: -
Inlet Valve 1.50"
Exhaust Valve 1.24".

The 711m block is the best one again to have as it has the stronger bottom end. If it ends in BA it's a 1600cc and if it ends in AA it's a 1300cc most likely, although it could still be a 1100cc as they share the bore and it's the stroke that is different.

did the 1.1 not have only 3 main bearings compared to the 5 on 1300/1600????????

You'll find most 1300's have "37" Heads.

1100 block is identical to 1300 block, but as explained previously is shorter than 1600.

It is only early small capacity pre-crossflows that have three bearing cranks.
