Bare with me for a moment while I describe my dilemma.
I have completed the build of my now complicated Pinto engine and need to fill the sump and spin up the oil pump with a drill to get pressure and
check oil system and leaks.
Original engine came without dipstick or tube, sump is now an RS2000 with some modifications to sump and baffle.
My question is ... How close to the underside of the baffle does the oil come to or what should the oil capacity be without filter?.
I have marked on the sump, the baffle height, the current dipstick full mark is well below, the mid point mark is low and the empty level is about 8mm
from the bottom of the sump
I think from memory the RS sump holds 3.9 litres.
the rs sump sits lower than a modified std sump though! so if your conceous about ground clearence i would go for a modded sump.
Although the baffling in the RS Sump is awesome!
It's a bit of a long story but when I chopped my sump I shortened the disptick tube and had to make a new dipstick.
I used the old dipstick and tube, set in the block and measured the high and low points from the lower face of the block.
If it's any help I have some pictures at home and probably the measurements too.

RS2000 sump has been modified to accept RS2000 pickup that has had a Cosworth spray bar attached to lubricate the cosworth rods little ends. Ground
clearance is good with the short sump so I can live with an extra inch.
3.9 litres with filter, I think my option now is to add oil and measure where it gets to then mark dipstick and construct a new tube for it.

I used 2.8 V6 pistons which were modified for circlips, these sit 15 thou below deck which for me was good as the head has 42cc chambers and gives
10.6 to 1 with a 1.3mm Reinz gasket.
Did you know you can put the oil pump lid on a standard pinto high pressure pump (not the high pressure high capacity one) this gives you a cheap high
pressure cosworth pump.
I also fitted a crak scrper, the guy I bought it from said they dyno'd an engine with and without scraper and it was worth 3bhp

Before scraper and note the thicker spray pipe because numpty here perforated the pipe when he removed it.

mines on the 93mm accralite flat top pistons, but they would have stuck out the top of the block by more than 1mm, so they've had something off
the top to bring them flush with the block (which gives me the 1mm gasket thickness for clearance )
I havn't measured the combustion chambers yet, but the heads be skimmed to somewhere between 11 and 11.5 to 1
(I trust the guy that did it, but I'll measure them before the final assembly)

Sorry for the delay I was expecting a U2U.
If it helps here are my pics taken on a 1.6l block and dipstick. The block was levelled across the flanges before measuring.
Dims as you can see are 105mm low and 80mm high from the flange.
