02GF74 - 13/10/10 at 07:54 PM

bid on this and won it.

1800 crossflow crank
1800 crossflow crank

now what do I do?

(expect some searching questions in the near future)

scootz - 13/10/10 at 07:58 PM

I have a fairly radical idea... how about you put it in an engine and make it go round and round?

richard thomas - 13/10/10 at 08:01 PM

Paperweight?

Canada EH! - 13/10/10 at 08:06 PM

do you have a boat? need a new anchor?

Bass1st - 13/10/10 at 08:17 PM

Put it back on ebay!

owelly - 13/10/10 at 08:22 PM

Close the box and put it under the bench.....job done.

l0rd - 13/10/10 at 08:27 PM

Bolt a flywheel on it and on the other end a piece of square wood and make a bed side table.

Hmm...I could see myself stubbing my toes on the ring gear! That would hurt a lot.

Dangle_kt - 13/10/10 at 08:34 PM

connect a battery, a wire hoop and buzzer and then try to get to the other end without setting it off...whilst it turns

jacko - 13/10/10 at 08:45 PM

Them bike engine cranks look BIG

02GF74 - 13/10/10 at 08:47 PM

ahemm <cough> <cough> you lot are not appreciating what you are seeing.

This crank is a bit unusual, see standard crank below. Can't bolt a flywheel on as it has 8 bolt holes.

jacko - 13/10/10 at 08:58 PM

Cozzy motor yb ?

MikeR - 13/10/10 at 09:03 PM

Sell it in 6 months for less than you bought it for ...... oh wait a minute, you're not Scootz

clairetoo - 13/10/10 at 09:07 PM

I thought it had a familiar look................8 bolts you say............wouldnt happen to be a steel crossflow crank , by any chance ?

MikeR - 13/10/10 at 09:15 PM

I was wondering was it a twink or a BD? crank?

02GF74 - 13/10/10 at 09:17 PM

^^^ I wish.

From an 1800 crossflow diesel; stroke of 82 mm.

Needs nose machined to accept timing gear plus a different flywheel, then what rods and pistons .......

Any info. on the above most welcome.

Six months... pah!

My attention span doesn't last that long! A fortnight at most, then it must go for pennies as I will no doubt have my eye on the next useless purchase!

Half a dozen self tappers and a 1/8 bit and your well away.
Cheers,
Bob

Nah, I think he's referring to his bedside manners...

l0rd - 14/10/10 at 03:54 PM

I am going back to Greece for holidays at Half term. If i get to the garage at my mechanic's i will take a picture of his crankshaft table.

mcerd1 - 14/10/10 at 09:42 PM

^^ I think this thread my have gone slightly off topic

whats wrong withe the flywheel thats ment to fit that crank ?

failing that you could get a billet X-flow one made up, but machined / drilled to suit this crank

Crank has 8 bolt holes plus one dowel hole, standard crossflow flywheel has 6 bolt holes, cannot remember if it has dowel hole.

I don't think welding up the crank or a flywheel then re-drilling is viable or safe.

Pretty sure Burton Power could make one with the correct number of holes and pcd.

definatly not - I hope you didn't think I ment that...

I ment one of these billet ones, but machined to suit your crank from scratch

thats a burton one - so £175 for the 6 bolt version (they do various 6 and 12 bolt versions from stock)

they might make one to suit your crank, or you could just get someone with a big lathe to make one based on a std. x-flow one
I've got a burton 9 bolt pinto one for my 2.1 pinto - i.e. a pinto size billet flywheel but drilled to suit a cossie crank (thats a stock item though)

there was a thread a while back about custom flywheels........
