cvh v's xf on 1st build

Have been reading cvh v's pinto, so hopefully a quick question.
I've just started and had been building as per book, however, 1.8 cvh with possibly xr3 head and mechanical injection and a decent cam could be fun.
What would the downfalls be compared to Xf, are there any drawings on cvh fitment? or would i be as well to ommit the engine rails from the frame sling a cvh in and take my own measurements.

Don't worry about the injection on the CVH - carbs are much easier. Use an XR2 dizzy and ignition module and it'll be dead easy to wire up.

Not sure what the relative advantages/disadvantages of CVH vs XFlow are. Obvious ones are that there are a lot more 1.8 Sierras around than 1.6 Cortina/Capri/etc so they'll be cheaper. CVH is amore modern OHC engine, has plenty of tuning bits around for it (cams, heads, turbo..!) but does suffer from rattly hydraulic tappets giving it that dodgy ford rattle. Oh, and don't forget that extra 200cc!

not sure but ive heard (in here i think) that the 1.6 heads dont fit onto the 1.8 blocks dont forget the carb/exhausts are reversed on the 1.8 compared to the rest

and the 1.8 is dead to start with. it was designed for economy rather than for power

Thats what i heard! if you go cvh it seems to be 1.6 for power and tweeks and 1.8 for economy and reliability.
