Hi guys.
so had a slight accident on sunday moving my engine.
Basically i managed to kind of 'drop' it over sideways.
There was some oil left on the floor, not a massive amount.
Anyway, it was dark and i didn't have time to assess it until today. So as soon as i lifted the engine on the hoist it started pooing oil out at
a fairly fast rate, looking like it was coming from the clutch/flywheel. Once it had all drained i took the clutch and flywheel off. There was oil
on the clutch itself, and when i tilted the engine forwards, more oil came out and looked like it was coming out of the bolt hole where the flywheel
bolts onto the crank.
Now the thing is that the flywheel was only bolted on with 2 bolts when i dropped it as i was just measuring up with the bellhousing. These 2 bolt
holes look clean, but the other 4 are all black (from where the oil came out i guess...).
So.... i know little about engines.... what have i broken!??!?!

what engine is it?
sorry, 1.8 silvertop zetec
Not broken IMO take the sump of and check the crank, the bolt holes go all the way through.
so would you expect oil to spill out of those bolt holes if you havent put a bolt in them?
oil can leak out from the flywheel bolt holes if no bolts are fitted, and the engine is tipped or even if over full of oil. I don't think you will have damaged anything other than contaminating the clutch and making a mess on the drive.
bloomin' brilliant!!!!
reallly thought i'd cracked the sump first, then when that looked fine, maybe some kind of crank seal or something....
all i've broken is my pride again (not that i had much to begin with!)
That'll teach me to be lazy with putting in bolts! and all my beautiful oil is gone...
I doubt anything is broken there
Tis quite normal for oil to leak from the holes once the bolts are removed & oil is still in the sump

The bolt holes in the crank are not blind so you will have all every ware if you tip it. Been there and done it.
