There have been some turbo manifolds and turbos on eBay recently.
The best base engine is a low compression Pinto as found in a Transit, 8.2 to 1 compression so a good start as it will take more boost without pinking.
Or if you have a Pinto already, I have a set of low compression pistons on rods.
Carbs or injection, your choice, however carbs have a problem, they see flow but have trouble with pressure.
Some Turbo conversions used an SU suck through to solve the problem, some encased a weber or two in an air box or fuel injection with an ecu that has a map sensor to adjust fuel and spark on boost

I've turbod a pinto before. U2U me a number and we can have a chat. Or since you're in Beds, you 're welcome to come over and discuss your plans.

I know this isn't the question you asked :
But Why ? bother withthe Pinto engine as it's errr.. lame/laughable by Anyone's yardstick and to add insult to injury : Heavy as the Anchor on the Lusitania
Suggest you consider a Saab engine? Not a lot lighter but Cheap as Chips (look around some :-) and a Helluva lot more sophisticated Turbo capable design. The Trionic ECU setup foregoes any kind of Air metering, relying instead on the analysis of each and every plug firing event to determine fuel/air ratio, ignition timings, knock sensing.. And.. boost pressure to suit.
Plus it's tuneable to 300 hp 350 ft lbs of TQ ..with nothing more than a DIY ECU reflash and a 'better' exhaust.. 500 hp potential with uprated Injectors and Turbo unit.. but needing the transmission from a Sherman tank :-) to transfer that level of hp/torque
