I was asking about this a couple of days ago, someone pointed me in the direction of 3M di-noc. If you search on google a few companies came up and the prices aren't too bad. Apparently it looks authentic too!

Regards,

Chris

3M stuffs close enough, but i agree with the sentiment - itsa bit chavvy if 1. it aint real, and 2. it doesnt acctually need to be carbon fibre.

i've got no problem with carbon fibre (even that di-noc stuff is ok) if it doesn't have to be, but what i absolutely can't abide, is this type of carbon fibre effect stuff

Over this weekend I have been making the instrument panel for the dashboard, out of MDF, and decided to cover it with DiNoc.
I think the result is very good, it is hard to tell that it is vinyl without a very close inspection

I also used it to cover the boot lid

interesting, i think i can tell the difference quite easy (i'm not saying i actually can, but i think i know the difference)
post 2 pictures, 1 of each, and i want to see if i can tell which is di-noc and which is real without having seen the photos before

ok, well, its a bit sneaky coz the 2nd one is a loose sheet, not a part, but i'd say the top one is di-noc, becasue it lacks any sort of gloss.
proper carbon has a nice shine to it from the resin

am i right?

Ah! But! I spray it with 2 coats of clear coat, it then looks like the second pic

as said, i think the top pic, is not real carbon. look that the weave at the top.

i have been working with the stuff for 3 weeks now, making a set of rear arches and front cycle wings trying to save the price from carbon mods it is a lot of work, i will most likely end up redoing it again next winter (practice makes perfect)
