Well, further to my recent thread, long story, but I just received the
replacement flange and UJ for the prop.
I should have expected it really.......the new flange is also the wrong size
I can only assume now that I have some wierd and wonderful x-breed flange fitted to my english axle diff??
The original prop flange was too small, the new one is too big! So I now have to try and source another diff flange to suit one or other of the prop
flanges I have.
Does anyone know the best route to get one? I guess it makes sense to use the smaller one as that is already fitted to the prop so involves less
faffing about. I know I have to replace the spacer behind the diff flange to get the right meshing of the gears, and am sure I've seen them on
the bay of E.
Any help gratefully received before I push the damn car off a cliff!!

Are you sure it's an English axle? I've had a few and only see two different size flanges. The holes are not equidistant, have you got them in the right orientation?
Well, I was pretty sure it was an English, but I have just received an email from D&F and Jon reckons it may well be a Marina axle!
The axle is in the piccy below:

I have just sent him a drawing with the measurements from my diff flange and will see what he thinks.

Marina that axle, cant tell for sure if it is a standard marina/ triumph toledo small dolomite style axle or a B series Banjo van type axle from
the pic.
but think it is standard marina from what i can see. , a clincher would be stud spacings are the 3.75 inch PCD or 4 1/2 inch As MGB style, if the
latter then it is a b seies commercial and will be quite a bit stronger.
Couple more piccies if that helps:

It is not a Marina ital commercial axle i just had a look under my marlin. And the diff nose does not look like a triumph diff, they have a more
rounded upper web.
So not sure now , But that said the ford english axle has different webs too from memory, . I don't suppose it could be a Hyundai pony axle
could it?
No idea mate. I bought it about 6 years ago and the guy had no idea what it was from other than he 'thought' it was from a capri or some Ford
Got to admit it looks more ford now looking at it from the back. Bit embarrassing this, still in my deference i am getting older these days.
Cant tell from the pics but when you look at the webs from the side are they like at an angle rather than 90% to the pinion shaft, if so that id how i
remember the English escort diffs looking. It is not an atlas they striped from the back i think.
Could it be an English with a diff from another ford sierra/ Scorpio sort of thing, do they fit the English axle? I missed the Sierras completely
in car ownership guess i was lucky aye?

I know that feeling
And all this hassle is making it happen sooo much quicker
Measure the flange holes Across as you would pcd, and i will measure the marina standard, and if it is that size forget what axle it is, i have a
marina back few inches, in fact if you have a spare ford type 2 front spline section and a few inches kicking about that would help us both out, we
are having exactly the same prblems just opposite ends of the prop shaft.

the half shafts .wheel bearings and hand brake cable bit on the casing say it,s a ford.
Ford 105e Anglia ?
Right now I'm thinking "why Oh why didn't I build an IRS back-end?"

Looks like a capri axle to me, funny rubber bush holder for handbrake rod and anti roll bar mounts..... but its 25 years since I last saw one in the flesh
If you wait around a while mate this one may be available to view..........on the scarpheap!
