The zetec engine Im using has the re-designed water pump, and I cant source a kit to convert it to run clockwise - so that i can run a triangular belt (crank pulley/water pump/alternator).

Does anybody know if there such a kit on the market?

Failing that I can probably get a mirror image of the impellor machined in which case would anybody else be interested in one? (their cheaper by the dozen)

A bit easier than that. If you have a Mondeo water pump which runs off the back (smooth pulley) of the belt and you want it to run in the same direction as the crank pulley just change it for a Ford Fiesta 1800 pump fitted with a grooved pulley (few quid from Ford dealer). The impeller is set to run in the opposite direction to the Mondeo one. Suspect Escort pump the same..

Just noticed from your site you have a later engine, info correct for earlier zetec, check before you buy for later engine.

I take it you know you will be stuck with fitting a cat for the SVA. Most use earlier engines which don't need one.

When I asked a ford dealer about the escort water pump he pretty much said I would have to buy an escort pump and find out, which was a special order and I *might* not be able to return it

Burton Power said I could go for an eletric water pump (which they dont sell) or a kit which is driven from the cam belt and I didnt fancy that much.

Yeah I know about the problems with using a later engine, but its in the car now so I'll have to live with it

Go down to Halfords and have a look, they normally have them on the shelf and normally willing to let you check the pump is right before you buy.

You cannot change the pump on the Phase 3 engines to solve this problem. It is only available with one impeller style.

You'll have to make up an idler to the right of the pump for the belt to pass round. I've made up a idler assembly to run the belt what they called "serpentine" fashion.
