After it became apparent I'd connected the fuel pump wires back to front and then correcting this, it stuttered into life today. I had help setting up the MS (cheers Phil!) and other than for the fuel pump, I'm chuffed the rest of my wiring worked, and that the engine seems ok considering I've never seen it run since I bought it.
