PVC Fuel Hose and Modern fuel
r1_pete - 16/9/11 at 06:58 AM

I'm in the process of re piping the fuel tank / pump etc in the boot of the car, the original pipework was some sort of plastic which after 45 years is past its best. As the tank and pump are rubber mounted it needs to flex, is the nylon reinforced PVC compatible with modern fuels? its only in the boot so away from heat, I've piped the carbs up with EFI hose, and its copper for the length of the car.

5/16' 8mm PVC FUEL WATER AIR OIL HOSE TUBE PIPE 3 METER | eBay sort of stuff.

In my opinion NO. I would use some gates or similar branded fuel hose that is specified for unleaded. There have been lots of people on here with degradation problems even with branded hose.

I've seen the link hose made of the pipe you describe fracture on a pair of webers and spray the exhaust and engine with fuel.

I would also say no. All standard pump petrol now contains ethanol which has a history of reacting badly with previously safe materials.

OK Thanks all, will go with SAEj30R9, was just looking for something as close to original as I could, but its better being safe than original.

That stuff should be banned if it isn't alreadyfor automotive use IMHO . Causes more problems than it's worth
