Release bearing and spring diaphragm q?
Nitrogeno25 - 17/9/11 at 02:01 AM

I'm doing my duratec conversion with the raceline bellhousing and mondeo release bearing.

I understand that the release bearing is constantly in contact with the clutch spring diaphragm as it has an internal spring. The rest position is when the release bearing is almost fully compressed.

Is this OK?

I thought that the release bearing should have an operating clearance with the diaphragm to avoid wear on both parts and fully release the clutch.

Many thanks!

That is perfectly normal, how would you arrange a concentric release bearing to provide a fixed amount of clearance as the clutch wears?

There is only very light pressure so it doesn't affect the clutch operation, and you are supposed to change the concentric release bearing when the clutch is changed anyway.
