Hiya - Following previous threads getting advice on how to set up and tune my bike carbs I have bought a used AF gauge from ebay that I hoped would go with the sensor already in my exhaust. However, I am a little confused as the gauge has 5 wires on it (red, black, white, green, orange), and the sensor only has one coming from it.

I thought the sensor was an AF sensor but perhaps I am wrong? Is a lambda sensor the same as an AF sensor?

Any help to point me in the right direction would be much appreciated.

That is a basic unheated narrow band Lambda sensor and not really suitable for setting up carbs with, the gauge also looks to be a basic one for narrowband sensors and will just show rich or weak mixture but with no degree of accuracy.You really need a wide band sensor and controller and a means of reading it either a dash gauge or by data logging it.

Can anyone recommend a good and cheap place to get a sensor and gauge?

You can use it to tune cruise or idle fairly well, but that's your lot. Here's the output from the sensor:
You'll be looking for something like the LC1-LM1 setups but good wideband and cheap come in 2's.


As you can see it'll pretty much be in either "rich" or "lean" positions unless you're bang on stoic, the slightest fluctuation of AFR and you'll peg it to one end or the other.
