Is the 2lt mondeo and the fiesta st starter motors the same?

Neil - My understanding is the answer is no they aren't the same because of different flywheels. Whether the difference matters I guess depends on what flywheel you're wanting to use (have to say my knowledge of the ST starter itself is zero).

There is one I'm watching on ebay and it says for st fiesta also fits mondeo 2001-2008. My understanding was that they were different aswell!!
I'm using an st flywheel so need a st starter.

ST flywheel is smaller so the starter sits closer to crank centreline by about 3mm radially.

Mondeo starter wont engage properly if you use a ST flywheel

Sorry to hijack, if i was using a flywheel from burtons or rwd then a standard duratec mondeo starter would work fine? I've got an automatic engine lined up but don't think the starter will be any good from it, can anyone confirm please?

I have a turbosport flywheel, they supply stock to burtons, it lines up with the standard focus starter motor. Can't comment on an auto starter though as the flywheel might be different.
