Anyone completed a kit using the BMW M5 V10 engine? If so, have they been able to use any of the original ECU/VANOS or have they started from scratch
with an aftermarket ECU?
Also any suggestions for a suitable sequential transaxle?

What's involved for the E39 then?
Just reading through the specs/wiring on the SMG gearbox trying to work out if a homebrew control system for it could ever hope to work!

ms3 will do can bus so theoretically i should be able to talk to the dsg box. if it wont do it straight away out the box im sure James on the ms3 forums will write a module for it. he is only in bham so easy to communicate with.
Dyno torque fitted an E60 V10 M5 engine in an E46 M3 and apparently it needed an ECU and loom which cost over 8 grand alone. Craig at dyno torque is
a master of this type of conversion!
Here is one of his for sale, I want it!

Is it normal to loose 100bhp between the engine and the wheels??

its usually about 18 % on a RWD front engine manual car. So at that sort of power, yes 100 bhp is not unreasonable. My RX7 had 384 bhp at the wheels which was 460 at the fly.
