We have just bought a citroen relay 2.2 hdi 2007 - I noticed these engines are rather knocky on idle

Why is this, Have they lowered the compression?

I belive it is the same engine as the ford tdci

My ford TDCI is well knocky, yet a friends focus with the same engine is not ??

why ?

my BMW engine was very knocky up to the moment the timing chain snapped then it was very quiet

cost the lease company £3K+ (SHOULD HAVE CHANGED THE BELT AT 80k NOT LEAVE IT TO 125k) moan over.
