Can anyone remove my ignorance by telling me what defines the number of ribbs in multi ribbed belt.

Is it the Peaks or the Troughs?

Its the peaks - or ribs - that count (a six ribbed belt goes on a six grooved pulley)

Simple really, but murphy's law meant unless I asked, I would have got it wrong.

The size is often, PK= followed by the number and then PK
PK=peaks
