i am a points and plug age and am not sure of buying a kit which you solder together

Piece of cake if you can follow instructions word for word and if you have some basic care and thought. Our first year students take about 8 hours to
build one with a mistake or two (found during the instructions own test procedures), I reckon I could do the build and test in about 2 hours now once
all the parts are laid out in order but it might be a bit scrappy. Buy one of the cheap maplin kits that you have to solder-assemble and use that to
learn. If you can do that right you can probably do an MS - it's all through-hole and fairly robust.

From a 2000/2001 bike as they split easy into individual parts.
Building one is very straight forward I found, but I have soldered before. I suppose it could be quite daunting if you've not done this type of
work before, but the instructions are very clear and every component clearly labelled and the circuit board clearly labelled too.
Dont know much about the PNP stuff but a MS2 V3 fully built would do the job.
Have a look at the Extra EFI site too, I assume your looking at the Autotune site

my project is putting a mx5 engine box diff brakes hubs etc into a mg midget.
the fabrication is going very well and ahead of plan(welder fabricator by trade)
as i understand the pnp can replace the mx5 ecu so no extra wiring
so i can use the mx wiring loom
not sure about the bike throttle bodies but i am sure someone on here will help when it comes to wiring
what and from were do i buy a kit megasquirt?
any rolling roads who can tune this set up in east anglia?

The prices for complete MSs are pretty good on DIY Autotune as well.

Plus Phil gives excellent UK based service. I sent my ECU back to him for a check over (turns out the problem was in my loom, not the ECU), and it

You don't really need to pay a premium for a a PNP - all that actually is is a normal Megasquirt with an MX5 ECU connector incorporated into it.
MX5 ECUs can be found for £10-15 quid on ebay if you keep looking - take the connector off , add a few bits of wire and bob's your aunties

I would (and do!) buy a ready built MS2 V3.0 from Phil. I can't see the point in buying a kit when you would be doing well to save £25 after you
have paid the import duty, if your interested in building an ECU for satisfaction then fair play!
Steer clear of the PnP if i was you, they do the job but power and grounding via the factory loom is not suitable for megasquirt, the factory ECU is
far better than MS regarding power conditioning so is less sensitive to poor wiring.
The last one i mapped i split the ground and power wires from the PnP plug and rewired from clean supply. (was getting the odd jitter on the dyno, TPS
noise mainly)
