I have this type of mechanical fuel pump on the pinto, which is the inlet and which is the outlet?

On mine the upper one was to the carb,the lower
one draws from the tank.
Sorry if im confusing you but thats how my pinto pump is.
Just been and checked the pump and thats how it is.

Andy have you got a picture of your pump? Looking at that pic again mine might be very slightly different.

You can blow through from inlet to outlet but not from outlet to inlet.

One will be an inlet and will have a vacuum when operated, the other, the outlet will have some pressure. Not too difficult to test?

Im not at home atm so cant take a photo.
As already said its easy to check,press the pushrod in by
hand and you will feel air pressure from the outlet.
