I have a set of ZX9 carbs with plastic slides that have a split diaphragm. I have sourced a replacement diaphragm and slide assembly but it is an
aluminium slide as opposed to plastic. Obviously there is a weight difference here, will one aluminium slide and three plastic slides function ok?
Alternatively can I split the diaphragm from the slide and swap? I cant quite see how to do this (the plastic retaining cap seems very firm) but it
must come apart somehow (really dont want to damage the new one given the price of the damn things!!).
i would suggest replacing all 3 to be safe.... but i have 1 plastic and 3 metal on my carbs and they work ok but the slider is better on the new diaphram which im sure makes a bit of difference.
HI, I would try removing the diaphragm from the old one first to see how easy it is then go from there. personally dont like the idea of mix and match
on slides as im sure it will make a difference, having said that some gsxrs come from the factory jetted differently on the outer two cylinders to the
inner two.
