Have decided to fit a Polo rad in place of my Escort rad, it's a tight fit under the Caterham nose , and I think I'll have to cut the air bleed union off and plug it, also I've had to route the bottom hose to the outside of the front chassis tube. anyone else had fun with this......................

Oh... you probably want some info as well!

Yes, I had to cut off the air bleed union. I plugged it with an aluminium "nail" I turned on the lathe. Glued it in with the head on the inside (fitting that was fun - NOT!). Seems to have worked OK.

I managed to set up the rad near-vertical - but I do have Westie-shaped nose that is larger than a Cat one. I picked up a brass 90-degree bend from a local radiator builder (Sheldrake & Wells, Ipswich) and used an inch or two of hose to link the bend to the rad. The other end of the bend was connected to the system using bendy corrugated hose.

I took the opportunity to fit a second thermo switch as I had to plug the hole anyway - wired this in parallel with the main one. Cost roughly the same as a blanking plug!

I've made a carrier that the bottom plastic spikes drop into , al I've got to do now is weld some top mounts on to the chassis thatwill come around the front of the rad and i'll either use slf tappers or tap the plastic to 6mm as ' Fast Westie' recommends, how did you fasten yours?

Just fitted a 6mm screw to top bleep fitting, does making filling system easier. I found a couple of Samco 135deg bends routed the bottom connection around the chassis tubes.
