Need a new clutch
paulf - 13/1/12 at 01:02 PM

Ive just took my engine out to have a look at the clutch as it was becoming difficult to disengage and also juddered a bit.
I found that the release bearing had ran out of travel as it is a standard Sierra one so easily sorted by fitting the capri version. The biggest problem is that the judder was caused by the fact that the damper springs in the friction plate have started to break up, the plate is a standard Mondeo one but i was wondering if there is a better clutch plate to use that does not involve modifying to fit a pinto clutch?.Would a diesel friction plate be better and would a diesel clutch cover fit?.
I have seen some AP clutches for Mondeo Mk 1 on eBay for £30 and am considering just fitting one of these .

Ask these guys...
http://www.clutch-specialists.co.uk/
They built me a custom hybrid clutch plate whilst they fed me coffee. It took about ten minutes and cost £20. Highly recommended.
Tell them Owelly from PPC Magazine sent you and I may get a biscuit next time.

I've used a Heavy Duty Pinto clutch plate from Burton, think a lot of guys use these
