Hi ALL
On my kit i have changed the carbs to fireblade carbs ok,now going to the petrol tank ,this is off a SPITFIRE car but because i have the fuel pump off the fireblade how do i fit the pump to the bottom of the tank, will i have to drill a hole in the tank to fit a small pipe and to that fit the pump or would anyone else have done this before and give some advise to me
many thanks

Just use the orignal take off, make sure the pump is as low as the bottom of the tank.

oh i'm sorry but i dont know what you mean could you tell me more you see i have a pipe at the top of the tank, now this pipe runs for about 2ft in an oval direction and then returns in to the tank still at the top of the tank I dont have any more pipes on the tank apart from the filler sorry

As Mark said just fit the pump close to the tank as low on the car as possible, leaving the rest of the plumbing as it already exists.

many thanks for the info BUT on mine if you look at the second pic the pickup pipe is connected to the little pipe approx 3 " away do you think that connection was for transportation only and should be removed then should i bend the pickup pipe down and connect it to the pump or am i completely wrong

Meant to say that today i found out that i have the mk4 or the 1500 tank so what i have done is taken off the top pipe and sealed it with a blanking plug ,left the other pipe with nothing on it ,so that is my breather pipe NOW, what i am going to do is drill an 8mm hole in the bottom of the tank, weld on a plumbing SOCKET in mild steel and thread on the insert with the pipe sitting a little above the bottom of the tank so as not to catch any dirt that may be in the tank,WELL am i correct or not, PLEASE ADVISE

I presume you have experience of welding petrol tanks. If not I will await a news flash.

In that case my advice would be to make one to your own spec from scratch rather than hacking about an old one?
