Injector Blanks
AntonUK - 22/1/12 at 04:11 PM

I'm in the process of putting together my GSXR TB's on a ST170 manifold. Obviously I need to blank off one of the sets of injector holes. I know the norm is chemical metal, but I would like a removable solution in case I ever decide to got to staged injection or wish to change the injector location (testing on a RR for example).

Is there an off the shelf "injector blank' that is available or do I need to have something knocked up on a lathe?

Drop Flakmonkey a U2U... I'm sure he could sort you out!

Never use chemical metal. I learnt the hard way when the slug was sucked out of the throttle bodies and into the engine, resulting in bent valves

Not a problem if the slug is shaped so that it can't be sucked in. I filled mine to the lip on the injector ports - on the GSXR1000s this gave a shaped slug.

Totally agree - Chemical metal works a treat, but as long as you form is around the shape of the entire injector port. So a cross section would look 'T' Shaped.

I would not worry about re using the ports...if you go for an 8 injector, then you would have the GSXR injectors in the current position, and a set pointing down the trumpets.
