With the abundance of Zetec's on ebay being sold with ECU, EFI and all the other gubbins has anyone managed to use all of it?
I know most can't fit under the bonnet because of the plenum chamber, but with the new offering from Bogg Bros allowing injectors etc. to be
re-used with their plenum it's got to be a cheaper alternative than TB's, Carb and new management?
Has anyone managed to use the zetec ECU? WIth a piggy-back chip you could remap and have a fairly healthy output.
Thoughts?
pretty sure big_wasa has done alot on getting standard ECUs working. When I collected my kit Raw told me that due to the shape of the strikers bonnet you can fit the standard plenum on their kits, so im sure a bonnet bulge would allow other style 7's to fit it.
I have used all of the original ecu, pats etc. I used a plenum chamber from GBS which is about £200 and have full working injection, ford immobiliser
and OBD.
So the answer to the question is yes, it can be done!!

Plenty of people on here have done this with the later (EECV) ecu. I've used the earlier (EECIV) ECU, you can buy inlet plenums that use the standard injectors/throttle body if the original plenum is too tall (probably will be for most people). GBS make a neat plenum that I bought a few months back.

Not cheap tho, and needs some sort of modified injector rail, so hardly an 'all in one' solution. Its the mounting costs like these that pushed me towards the complete weber alpha kit (allthough i dont think I would have paid full price for one).

What have you done about the cats when using the standard ECU set up?
mine
I use mondeo donors for most of what I do due to easy availability of parts and the engine loom is almost self contained. These upto 2000 ish dont
have post cats or post cat lambda sensors.
So run with or with out.
Its an easy Iva pass on emissions if you use a cat.
Ive had a brief look at piggyback ecu's
Will fit a piggy back chip when I find one for good money.
