starter/altanator cable

Hi aLL
lights all going now ,that is that finished,onto the cable from the starter to the altanator and where it comes from, if i am correct i take the same size of cable that is on the poss side of the battery and route it down to the starter then what ,does the same cable go from the starter to the altanator .

The cable from alternator to battery / starter doesn't need to be as big I think mine has a 20 amp cable

what size of cable is it ,i have seen 12v 20amp cable but it is 2 core is that the wire i need and if so where does the second wire go to

Depends on the rating of the alternator which is generally in the range 17 for a Cortina to 90 amps for a Mondeo diesel.

You need to match the alternator cable to the alternator, or rather exceed it a little.
So if you have a 40A alternator, use 40A plus cable. Best to allow for future changes too, although it isn't difficult to add extra wiring if needed at a later date.

You can use both large connectors on the alternator.
