Set of cam followers for a x flow are £78:00 from Burton Power and £29:99 off ebay. All I will be using them for is road work so not consistent high revs. Anyone got any experience of the ebay followers?

most things at burtons are top prices!

my brother has those followers in his crossflow road car, no problems 2 or 3 years later, and ive just fitted a fully recon engine with the same followers, no issues here.

i had my doubts, but so far so good

Just make sure they are the right diameter on the shaft. Early ones have a narrower diameter than the later ones. If you 'accidentally fit the early ones on a later block (thanks to SHELLTUNE, NORTHAMPTON) then your engine will sound like a rattly old sewing machine and the mushroom heads will fall/break off at about 750 miles, usually snapping the cam shaft as well, IF you are lucky it will snap in front of the distributor/oil pump drive gear.

DON'T ask how I know as that was 31 years ago.

edit bit

Oh and the later ones will NOT fit in an early block.

I managed to get a Kent BCF2 cam kit complete with cam followers for less than the Burton followers from Ebay

there has been an issue with the kent followers, they had a batch that wore out very quickly, the material was just not up to scratch, it ruined cams and spoilt a lot of peoples days.

be careful as there may still be some of these duff followers kicking about. they never did a recall or officially admitted a problem.
