boost controller

im going to run a electronic boost controller on my car, wanted to find out how much more boost you can run with them over the stock wastgate spring, is there a limit or could you have a 7psi spring and run 28psi using the ebc?

thanks

rule of thumb is to set the wastegate to hold just under 1/2 the peak boost you plan to run with a solenoid

^^^^^^ thats the basis i have always used.

Agree with the above.

If you try to get too much boost with a weak spring, then the forces on the wastegate from the exhaust gases can open it.

I have got away 2.5x ok, 8psi wastegate with 20psi peak boost on a td04.

The other thing to remember is actual rate depends on actuator size too , on one turbo I used it needed an 18 lb spring to get 14 lb base boost but you need to be a little below 1/2 to allow for overshoot when mapping
