Just wondering would there be any gains to be made by running a megasquirt ecu over existing stock factory ecu's on motorbike engined kit car?
Ie 1000cc upwards.

I'm sure small gains could be found if mapped well, but IMHO it wouldn't be worth the time or money.
Im sure there is somebody running a blackbird on megasquirt on here?
Fitting ITB and megasquirting a bike engine has its advantages.
I would have thought that replacing a perfectly good ECU with a megasquirt is probably counter productive. Most folk as a power commander to get the
fueling (and sometimes the spark timing) perfect.
MS has benefits if you want to turbocharge.
I replaced my carbs on my 893 blade with TB's and megasquirt for a while as on my road map to turbo which is done now.
Definately better than carbs, I only squirt and leave the sparks alone.
Its a balance, you will save money if buy an engine without ECU, clocks and security bits and bobs cheaper, you also save having to have a power
commander.
Say you had an R1 with the EXUP fitted then you can dump or sell that bit one as well.
Can also transport it if the engine goes bang

I ran an R1 on an Emerald ECU a few years ago. When I spoke to Dave Walker, he told me nobody had done it before. That sounded expensive and it was!
And mapping cost me a fortune. There were some benefits but not huge!

Dose the power commander require rolling road time for mapping?
Depending on year of engine you can get the new PC5 with Auto tune
i'm runing one on mine and it works really well, you can set what AF ratio you want and it maps and saves it as you drive.
That sounds handy alright. Did u notice any power or torque gains or is it difficult to tell?
