Quick question to prevent an impulse buy....
Can I run a rover KV6 engine using megasuirt instead of its own ecu.?
Thanks
Paul
Dunno... but I have one going spare if you'd like to impulse buy mine!
Much cheapness!!!
Hi if your selling....how much ?
Whats the mucho cheapnes Scot ? dont want the Tb's as I have a supercharger to strap on
And Paul, yes ms will run it. You will need a 36-1 Trigger wheel. You could use the later coil on plugs and drive them from the ms or you could use an
edis 6 and a ford v6 coil.
Looking at Ms prices I dont think there is a mega saving on an emerald ecu and that will take the rover trigger.
Also worth looking at the price of tools to do the belts on a kv6
Going to look at two cars ( both just 5 mins away unlike yours scootz ) this weekend. Both have FSH from main dealer and only 70,000m.
was just concerned about all the ectra electronics eg trip computers alarms so was hoping to use a megasuirt to keep it simple.
not sure what I am building yet!!!! will start with the engine and decided
Paul
close to £200 for tools to cahinge belt
that makes me think again
possibly

Both cars have had cam belt changed at 50,000 so not an issue yet.
looks a nice compact engine so may well fit at the back of the terrapin
Pual
Can I be cheeky and ask what sort of money they are Paul ? I am planning on doing a bench engine with the supercharger.
Bit like my zetec's
I really would think twice on the aftermarket Paul.
With breathing mods and a decat they are good for 200bhp. Even aftermarket you wont get much more. There are guys that have spent thousands on getting
an extra 20bhp And the supercharger only gets 250bhp but they do pull really hard.
My tintop is a zs180

Where not at MUCHO cheapnes yet Scot
hope to get one of them for £700 for a 51 plate car. Will use it for a few months as a daily driver then as a doner for engine box and ecu.
the others the 190bhp and will try for £ 900
Seems a lot but both are in immaculate condition

She normally lets them go for a little less than the asking price.
The sportier MG often sells for a little less. The smaller zs also sell for less.
They are top money on that reg. They start at £500. You can pick up 05 and 06 zs180's for as little as £1500 and have your pick at the £1800+
There are a few expensive things to check with any kv6 car. The plastic manifolds rattle and are £500 new They have two vis motors that pack up from
as little as 10k, The clutch hydraulics pop and they are a sealed unit. Check the oil cooler pipes and coolers. There starting to let go and take the
engine with it.
Check in the V as the thermostats weep, you will see red staining if it has/is.
I will dig out a buyers guide on things to look for.

Your lump would be ok to swap out a dead one but a little bare for what I am planning at the moment. On the other hand the wife will kill me if I break another car on the drive. I will get back to you Scot. Ive spent loads this month on a set of cambelt tools.
Check the Road Tax costs before you buy 190s can be very expensive to tax varies with year so check for that particular vehicle. -- also check
the log book I have seen 190s that the only thing 190 about them was the badges. Automatics across the 75/ZT range one emission tax group above
the equivalent manual cars. The power difference between the 160, 180 and 190 isn't as much as the labels suggest the 160 produces more
the 160 ps and other models less than the labels sugest.
2 litre was really not in the same league as the 2.5 it had a normal inlet manifold. Personally I wouldn't bother with a 2 litre as it
has the fuel consumption of the 2.5 and not much more power than the 1.8 or diesel.
Cam belt interval is 90,000 miles on the KV6 and the special tools are easy to sell afterwards.
The 75 & ZT v6 don't use the MEMS ecu, but the MEMS v3 is used in other v6 models in the Mg-rover range
