hi
is the alternator from a peugeot 106 ok to use with the pinto?
just worried about difference in volts
cheers
patrick
Yeah I think contrary to all other auto manufacturers Peugeot decided to run their auto electrics at 240V that way you can plug in your kettle more
easily...
Cheers
Redeye,
Should be ok- assuming the pulley is the correct dimensions. Does it have a built in regulator?
If not, then the alternators from a Bedford Rascal (or the other Japanese variants) are great- really small and have the correct pulley profile.
Probably worth looking around for the ali casing ones (like mine) as there are steel ones (or atleast ones that rust!) around too.
Hope that helps,
James
I just got myself a nippon denso alternator its a 40 amp job and only 100mm in diameter, brand new off e bay
seabass
are you saying that the alt will be ok at 240v?
james
the pully is the v type belt and fits ok with the bracket ive made
its quite small and compact too
cheers
patrick
Redeye, Seebass was been sarcastic.
All altenators from modern cars work at 12v with a charging supply voltage of 13.5v (if my memory is correct).
Getting it to fit and drive off of the engine is more of a problem. If its to small it won't charge the battery, but this only really effect cars
with loads of lights and things that use lots and lots of power.
oops
cheers 4x4
so the alt will be fine so long as it fits and suplies enough power?
the alternator is already on, jus got worried when i heard about 6v and 12 v cars
