Two engines with no number
Kevin - 25/3/12 at 05:24 PM

I thought that I was making good progress, hoping to get through IVA this summer. Only to find out that both of my 1.3 xflow engines have no numbers to identify the year. Just got it running smooth as well!! Another one of those continuous problems that seem to come along.

No probs, set of stamps from Machine Mart and bobs yer uncle. I fitted an engine in my JC Midge that came from a college training chassis so no number so stamped my own on it for the log book.

Whoa Neddy!

You need the correct number to get a letter off Ford to identify the year for IVA.

Just making one up won't help!

Not suggesting you simply make one up coozer! A bit of research is needed!. When I got my car SVA'd my tester in Carlisle knew the age of x flows and didnt have a problem with the age. Dont know about IVA but Burtons catalogue lists all the age letters and if you can find out how many numbers are needed after the letters whats the problem? That is of course unless IVA actually needs a letter from Ford for a x flow and I doubt whether they could be fussed to give you one anyway.

I agree fella but you do need to show something that proves the age.

you do not need a letter from ford..

pick the year and month of manufacture that you want
look in the Burton Power catalogue.
find the date you want and stamp the engine..
take the Burtons catalogue along as proof of age..
simples!!!!

Just borrowed some stamps and downloaded chart from burton power. I think the escort was T or W reg so will use a couple of letters from around that year, followed by 5 numbers, I Think!
