I am currently working on upgrading my 2l pinto. My plan is to fit a set of bike carbs and possibly get the head gas flowed. With this in mind I am looking into what camshaft would be best to with this work?
I want my car still to be drivable around town etc, not just a screamer when at high revs!

With this in mind what would you recommend? I was originally considering a Kent FR30, but now am favouring a Piper 285.

I've had both the FR33 and 285.

Prefer the 285. Nice steady realise of power if my oppinion.

Ok. I maybe should have mentioned that my pinto is in my Mk3 Capri. Would this have any bearing on the above cam choices?

I had a piper 285 in a pinto a few years ago, they do work really well all round for a road car.

There's a lot more weight to haul around in a Capri
The FR30, high lift low duration, lots of torque peaks at low revs so not much after about 6200.
Your rods are only good to 6800
My FR32 gave peak bhp at 5800 but would rev for ever
FR30 just up the compression with a 1mm gasket
FR32 would like 10 to 1
FR33 nearer 10.5 to one you may need super unleaded

Piper 285 is what i have in mine
My engine is a rebore +60
zx9r bike carbs
The head has been planed by 1mm and polished / ported
so more or less what you are doing
Bogg Brothers suggested this too me to go with bike carbs
