Whats the going rate for a 2L Duratec engine out of a Mondeo these days?

I've got a 1.8 and a 2.0 engine for sale... Both relatively high mileage though, looking at £250 for the 1.8 and £300 for 2.0
I paid £275 for one that had done 22k miles
I paid 275 for one from a scrapper (unknown mileage, but promised to be a good'un).
So far, it's been stripped down to the bearings, and it is in good shape.
No marks to the bores, bearings all in nice condition (crank and big-end).
The cams were showing first signs of wear, but they're being replaced. The bearing surfaces themselves were good.
Don't let high-mileage put you off - chatting to Boggs, who put me onto someone who knows duratecs, he said high mileage can be a good thing -
the block and parts have been heat-cycled a lot, and as such are harder than the new engines.
However, the fun starts when you start bolting all the bits on. I'm not really counting anymore how much this is costing to rotate it through 90
degrees, strengthen it and put new cams in.
End result is going to be 215bhp though, in my 600kg fury 
Yep not cheap unfortunately, but I reckon it will be worth it
If you fancy popping over when I put the head on, that'd be good. I want to be sure I've got it properly right.
I don't want it cranking over nicely by hand, and then crashing valves into pistons when it's warming up for the first time, or is it a case
of: if it turns, it works.
Dummy build using the old gasket and plasticine on the pistons to check valve clearance
Plasticene is a good trick, the valve clearence on a Duratec is quite close as stock and has pockets in the pistons to suit, as long as you dont go
for lots of lift on the cam think you will be ok, if you got for lots of lift may need to change out the pistons.
Not done it myself but there is a fast road cam that does the job.

I went to SBDEV and took their advice on cams and bought their kit. It's a stage one (no mods necessary to pistons) so I hope it will fit without
pocketing.
I paid £195 with 77000miles on. I thought for that price it was worth taking the chance. Mind you I still haven't ran it yet.

Mine was about £210 but it had pretty much nothing bolted to it. It's allegedly done around 53,000 miles. I think it might have a problem with the tensioner, though. As I turn it by hand the chain suddenly goes a bit slack at the top before tightening up again when I turn it.
They were selling brand new ones at newark and Stoneleigh for £800. I suppose it depends on how much cash you want to spend.
I had all the ancillaries but couldn't be bothered ebYing them. 800 for no problems and disposables to replace is a good deal I would say. Saying that if you're upgrading it your costs are way lower (such as replacing cam chain, tensioner, bearings, gaskets, etc).
