I'm replacing my sump on the red top with a low line sump, so I need to remove the pick up pipe, now question is when I refit the new pipe It
will be empty.
So do I
1 hand crank it a little to get some oil up the pipe
2 take the ht leads of the plugs and crank it over abit
3 it will be fine, so start as normal
I do have a oil warning light but not pressure gauge
Any advice welcome.
Andy.
Once you've rebuilt the engine take the plugs out and spin the engine on the starter until you see some oil pressure or the light goes out.
Then put the plugs back in and start as usual - I did this with my engine after a sump and pick-up pipe change and it's done 9000+ miles since

Cheers mate.
I'll try that tomorrow.
Andy.
What are you using for the sump? The standard C20XE (alloy) one or a 8v steel one? I have the latter, and even shortened I still only get 2 and a half inches of ground clearance!
Currently have 8v steel one with about 2" clearance, got hold of a 2nd hand zukspeed manta type sump. So should gain an extra inch or so.

Yeah sorry yuk, typo. Was going to fit today but the rain has put me off, so will try again tomorrow. And will let you know what clearance I get.
Andy.
