Zetec cooling options for the header tank on the black top Zetec.
Has anyone used the heater return on the thermostat housing to connect the header tank.
I assume it is the heater return sits on its own on one side of the thermostat housing has anyone one used this can anyone see any issues with
connecting the header tank into the system from this point.
Usually blanked off this would be the only point of connection for the header tank plus an air bleed from the thermostst housing and the rad.
Thanks Dave.
No no no, the heater outlet on the thermo housing is no good, DO NOT PLUMB into it.. it is the same as the bypass, is open to the engine to allow
quick warm up of the heater. Its a flow not return.
Plumb the header tank into the bottom hose as close to the rad as possible. Do not mix up the bypass or heater connections as these are common, header
tank needs to be separate.
Here a little if shite diagram...

My header tank is teed into the bypass hose at the cylinder head and has never been a problem, the other end of the bypass hose is teed into the
bottom hose close to the water pump connection.I did it this way rather than making a double connection into the bottom hose and to make the plumbing
neater,it doesn't really matter where the header is connected in the bottom hose as long as it allows expansion of the coolant.
